Decoding Urban Intersections

Compartment S4 organised a workshop to decode various components of road safety at urban intersections supported under Sustainable Mobility Network. Design workshop was hosted by RV College of Architecture (RVCA), Bengaluru in collaboration with Thirty Cross Raahgiri Foundation, Namma Raste and WRI India.

Day 2 - Rigorous onsite mapping 
The students are expected to learn the following:
1. Understanding the type of intersection.
2. Activity mapping
3. Issue identification
4. Mobility pattern
5. Type of road users and how to accommodate them in safe design
6. Studying the user behaviour
7. Combining the traffic engineering with urban design
8. Designing Intersection as per standards
9. Strategies and recommendations to improve safety and accessibility at intersections

Day 3 - Solutioning
Combining the traffic engineering with urban design, mobility patterns, user behaviour, understanding guidelines and representation within a condensed yet immersive span of 3 days. This timeframe provided them with a comprehensive grasp of the entire cycle, spanning from site identification to design of a live project
