About Us
Our design ideas are primarily people centric and environment and context sensitive. Our strive to achieve efficient design, reflects in various aspects such as cost sensitivity, environment consciousness, minimum wastage, use of local resources & techniques and climate responsiveness.
The primary focus being, “to create enhanced spatial experiences”, stimulates us to not only explore alternative materials and techniques, but also craft sensitive ways of using conventional materials to achieve the same. Discarding the redundancies in modern design trends, we believe in the idea of a derived functional aesthetic rather than plastered decorations. Regardless of the scale of the project. Every design decision is carefully taken to directly benefit the user and to cause less harm to the environment.
Founded in 2017, Compartment S4 is a design practice with studios based in Ahmedabad and Mumbai. It is a multidisciplinary practice, providing a range of design services including architecture, urban design & planning, interior design, rural and urban social infrastructure, landscape, and research & publication.
Co-founded by 8 partners, CS4 is a collective providing people-centric design solutions rooted in its immediate context. Their iterative design process seeks to achieve social, economic, and environmental sustainability. As a collaborative practice with shared expertise across the design and build spectrum, they are equipped to attend to the multiple facets of a project, irrespective of the scale and typology. Their practice is informed by research and driven by dialogue that perseveres to create resilient built environments.
Compartment S4 is a practice with a conscience. We stand for architectural processes that are democratic in nature and adopt a non-hierarchical approach to research and design.
