Nestled in the heart of Mulund East, Mumbai, Ganesh Talav is a vital public space that serves as a daily gathering spot for local residents and transforms into a central hub during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival for the Ganesh Visarjan festivities.

Our primary goal was to activate the lakefront promenade and create a cohesive public realm that accommodates everyday activities while also supporting large-scale religious events. The design seeks to establish a multifunctional space that harmonizes community interactions with spiritual practices taking into account all user groups. To cater to diverse user groups and activities, the site is thoughtfully divided into three functional zones:
Zone 1: Entrance Plaza:
An inviting entrance featuring a ticket counter and security booth to manage access.
Ample covered seating areas for visitors to rest and socialize.
A beautifully landscaped forecourt that seamlessly connects to the promenade.
Zone 2: Play Zone:
A dedicated play area for children that encourages active engagement.
An amphitheater designed for cultural and social performances, fostering community gatherings.
Well-integrated public amenities, including restrooms, ensuring visitor comfort.
Zone 3: Waterfront Experience:
Stepped ghats provide safe access to the water during Ganesh Visarjan, along with serene seating areas for daily use.
A shaded thicket platform with planters creates inviting zones for relaxation.
By enhancing Ganesh Talav, we aim to create a lively and inclusive space that honors the rich cultural traditions of the community while ensuring a welcoming environment for all.
