An abstract graphic illustration mimicking the game of “land and water” refurbished the Vasant Dada Patil Udyaan into a garden catering to the playful and imaginative minds of children.
As a result of the low visibility and fraudulent behaviour of the users, the potential of this garden was not being utilised to the fullest. We aimed at increasing public interaction and visibility. To cater as a better public space, a behavioural change through we proposed addition of design elements which were well articulated. An illustration was interpreted in the plan for the garden through elements of play, colours and texture.
The character of the garden enhanced by the vegetation of the garden. Through an improved visual connection by creating sloping lawns and its playful character turned it into an accessible public space. Visual stimulus and engagement through warm and cool colour scheme and materials like coloured china mosaic and EPDM translated into different zones, while binding it together through a singular connecting pathway.
